작가 노트 | Artist Statement

일반의 생활에서는 느낄 수 없는 것을 경험이라는 것을 통해 새로운 생각으로 전환할 계기가 될 수 있다고 생각한다. 이에 두 가지의 경험이 결합되는데, 직접 바다 속에 들어가 바라본 지형의 모습인 검푸른 색으로 가득 차 구별되지 않는 절벽과 대지 풍경의 그랜드 캐년이다. 

넓게 펼쳐진 그 장소에서는 끝이라는 것이 없는 것처럼 느껴지고, 발 밑에는 아찔하게 보이는 절벽의 모습이 펼쳐져 있었다.

두 공간은 다른 것일 것이라는 인식으로 바라보았던 대상들이 경험을 통해서, 구별할 필요 없는 하나의 공간처럼 느껴지게 되었다. 자연의 있는 그대로의 모습을 구분하고 정의함이 절대적일 수 없다는 것을 두 공간을 결합한 이중적 공간으로 표현하게 되었다.

본인은 자연에 대해 이미 규정된 것들이 개인적 경험에서 느낀 것을 바탕으로, 경험의 재정립과 새로운 생성의 과정, 변화를 거쳐 앞으로의 작업의 새로운 방향성을 찾아가고 있다.

I think that experiences can be an opportunity to transform what cannot be felt in ordinary life into new thoughts. The two experiences are combined in this, a Grand canyon of undistinguishable cliffs and land landscapes filled with dark blue, which is the appearance of the terrain viewed directly in the sea.

There seemed to be no end in the sprawling place, and beneath my feet was a dizzying view of a cliff.

Through experience, the objects viewed with the perception that the two spaces would be different came to feel like a space that does not need to be distinguished. It was expressed as a dual space that combines the two spaces that distinguish and define nature as it is cannot be absolute. Based on what I felt in personal experiences that have already been defined about nature, I am looking for a new direction for future work through re-establishment of experience, process of new creation, and change.
