작가노트

흙은 세상과 몸을 관통해주는 물질이며 본인에게 흙 작업은 캔버스를 직접 빚어내는 일이기도 하다. 이번 전시 <Self portrait>는 여성신체를 모티프로 하여 본인을 그려낸 작업을 기반으로 구성되어 있다. 그동안의 작업에서 흔적은 틈을 닦아내고 드러내면서 물질에 내제되어 있던 흔적의 표현이라면 Self portrait 에서 보여주는 흔적은 조금 더 타자성이 드러난 흔적이다. 캔버스처럼 짜여진 토르소의 표면 위에 유약과 안료가 덧칠해지고 지워져 있다. 나와 타자, 서로의 행위가 나의 몸에 한 데 모여 제각기 다른 표면으로 관계 속의 인물을 기억하고 있다.  과거의 것 하지만 현재의 나를 이루는 모든 순간들 몸에 새겨져 있고 묻어져 있다. 전반적으로 사적이고 개인적인 스토리텔링으로 구성되어 있다. 

I truly believe that soil is a substance that connects us to both the world and our very essence. For me, creating art with soil is akin to painting on my own personal canvas. Soil becomes my medium, allowing me to express my innermost thoughts and emotions. In this exhibition, I've chosen the female body as my central motif, creating a self-portrait that embodies my essence.

Unlike my previous works, which delved into the intrinsic traces within materials, this time I've chosen to focus on external traces. The canvas-like surface of the torso is carefully glazed and colored, becoming a reflection of my ongoing contemplation regarding what was lacking, what was excessive, and the perfect balance required to express my true self.

My actions, as well as those of others, converge upon my body, evoking the figures etched into the intricate tapestry of diverse relationships. Though the moments that have shaped my current self are now buried within my body, they remain vividly etched in the tapestry of my past. These connections with the world around me were never simple or weightless. Through my artwork, I breathe life into specific episodes, weaving them into a deeply personal and intimate narrative that encompasses the whole of my being.
